Dr appointment update!!

Last Tuesday I had another doctor's appointment and ultrasound update.  The past few weeks, I was feeling poorly with a stomach bug followed by a bad cold.  I was extremely tired, and that week or two stretch kicked my butt.  I was starting to feel well right before my visit with the doctor, but I had a concern with a lack of movement with the baby and weight loss.  Mike and I were both anxious to get the ultrasound done and see the doctor to calm both of our nerves.  Around 18 weeks, I consistently felt flutters at night, but they seemed to not occur after 20 weeks.  After all of that, we are happy to say that it was a great visit.  The baby was in a different position(head down) than our 18th week ultrasound which could be the reason for the lack of movement.  Also, it is quite normal not to feel the baby until 20-26 weeks. The tech was able to get some profile shots. This is the first time seeing the baby's profile and it, was surreal and beautiful!

Baby Gender: Boy!
Baby heartrate: 147bpm
Baby Weight: 16 oz ( 1 lbs)
Baby Length: Somewhere around 11 1/2- 12 inches from toe to head, about the length of a banana

Everything was normal!!  Yeah!! New experiences or a lack of new experiences can be nerve racking, but thankfully for no reason.  I am just a momma-to-be that loves her baby so much already!

It's definitely a boy!

Doctor's Visit!!

Mike and I went to go see my doctor this past week, and everything is going really well.  I had to get the quad test done which is routine.  My first feeling of the baby was last week, but just little flutters.  I did have an ultrasound done to see the position of the  placenta, and it has moved up a one cm.  The last ultrasound that was performed prior to this one indicated that I have a low lying placenta.  It was a small concern, but does have time to move away from the cervix. Boy is this baby active.  The tech commented on how baby Fortuna was in a jungle gym, and sure enough Mike and I could hardly keep an eye on him because he was so active.  We definitey have a little Fortuna!!

Pumpkin carving party with the girls!!

This year Lisa hosted our annual pumpkin carving party at her place in Wrigleyville. What a beautiful day to do it on the rooftop downtown.  Good food and company, and I always have a fun time with some of my favorite people. Can't believe next year Mike and I will be able to celebrate and carve pumpkin's with baby Fortuna!

Starve Rock and Matheson Park!!

On Saturday Mike, my mom, and dad, and I went out to Starve Rock and Matheson Park for the day to hike, hike the caverns, and see the fall colors before all the leaves turned.  We hiked about 5-6 miles at Starve Rock and about 1 mile at Matheson Park.  We had a nice lunch in the small town Utica and looked at a few shops.  My dad of coarse made trail mix and snacks while we were hiking. It sure makes you want to plan a trip to Colorado or Wyoming to go backpacking and Yellowstone!!  Any takers for 2012?
